This study of life in a Chinese village during World War Two won awards in Taiwan when it was released there in 1987. In the story, villagers attempt to cope with the arrogance and foolishness of their Japanese rulers. One scene follows the town's Japanese boss as he warns the village women about American soldiers' promiscuity and simultaneously confiscates all the village's cattle as food for the Japanese armies. Another scene follows two villagers as they find an unexploded (American) bomb, unearth it, and transport it to Japanese headquarters in order to obtain a reward.~ Clarke Fountain, All Movie Guide
