No, you didn't read the name wrong. For forty bucks an hour, you too can rent one of Gowanus's ten existing shuffleboard decks, with the exception of league nights (yes, there is a shuffleboard league) on Monday and Tuesday nights from 7-10:30pm. In keeping with the Florida retirement vibe, the Royal Palms serves up tropical cocktails all year-round, plays a fair amount of yacht rock, and hosts a suitably ironic bingo night. Food trucks provide victuals every day of the week, ranging from Phil's Steaks and Carl's Steaks to Mexicue and Crif Dog to the tremendous Luke's Lobster. And with a roster of live music at the venue, Royal Palms is destined to be the Union Hall of Gowanus.
