The Heights

Midtown South

Team Talde's hip and happening rooftop bar in the Arlo NoMad Hotel. Here you get stunning views of the Empire State Bldg and the young and restless hordes sprawled about the AvroKO-designed terrace slurping down after-work drinks, desperately trying to have their name included in the next day water-cooler whispers of who is sleeping with whom. Detroit style pizza, salads and Italian sandwiches to soak up excess booze.

Azul on the Rooftop

Rooftop bar atop Hotel Hugo. Stunning views of city, great spot for romantic cocktail, or to meet friends for summer drinks. Developing neighborhood, and one can always skip across the street to the Ear Inn to get some old school NYC flavor.

Vu Bar

Ay caramba! Rooftop bar atop the La Quinta hotel in the midst of K-Town! What can be more New York than that? Except the crowd really. More a mix of the after work scene and out-of-towners, which, in fact, makes it a sneaky spot for that outdoor drinking experience. Great spot for those whose thing is Korean food, and you want a pre- or post- meal cocktail in a unique setting.

Saloon

A sports bar! A dance hall! A.... well, a place for whatever you want it to be. Neighborhood spot for the young crowd to meet watch a game and if the mood and evening is right join the crowds bumping and grinding on large dance floor. Music mainly top Pop hits, crowd young. A place where you leave your pretensions at the door and bust out your best - and therefore your goofiest - moves.

Manhattan Proper

Tribeca

Sports bar for the upwardly mobile (read: "social club") with fancy pants food like andouille sausage sliders.

Celon Bar and Lounge

Midtown West

Bespoke cocktail joint at Bryant Park Hotel. Mainly after work scene.

Abajo

Basement lounge below Anejo — TriBeca. Mezcal and tequila based cocktails, small plates for the hungry.

Cloud Social

Rooftop bar with excellent views of the Empire State Building that is located in the NYMA Hotel. Mainly afterwork crowd, but nice place to kick back when the weather is warm.

Caledonia Scottish Pub

Scottish pub with over 150 different kinds of Whisky, and a friendly staff that knows there stuff. Complimentary tastings are held regularly, best to check their website if interested. Warm atmosphere, eight beers on tap, and trivia nights make this a neighborhood favorite.

Aldo Sohm Wine Bar

A wine bar that reflects the energy of the city, or at least the living rooms of people exhausted after a days work in the city. Comfy, relaxing, and best with glass of vino in hand. However, with over 40 options by the glass and 200 by the bottle, wine lovers are sure to find something they enjoy. Affordable small plates to gnosh on. Great for theatre going, or meeting up after work.

Melody Lanes

Old school neighborhood bowling dive in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. You get a feel for the "old Brooklyn" when a fedora was a fedora and not an accessory. Cheap drinks at the bar, where the locals cheer on the New York teams, and, of course bowling. Staff there can be a bit surly, but if you want old-school BK, you gotta take it! Close to Greenwood Cemetery, so perfect if you feel a need to go cheap brew after a high brow experience!

Howl at the Moon

Part bar. Part concert. All fun! Howl at the Moon is a live music venue that provides an unforgettable party experience nightly. Their entertainers perform a high-energy set list packed with dance hits and party anthems that’ll keep you dancing all night. Thirsty? Howl at the Moon offers a wide range of specialty cocktails including a signature 86oz bucket of booze! Whether you’re celebrating a birthday or just a night out with friends, Howl at the Moon is the perfect place to party.

Point Break

Midtown

Giant frat house in midtown. Up to you if find that appealing. But yeah, there are things like beer pong. And huge beer mugs in the shape of boots.

Die Stammkneipe

Fort Greene

Fromerly Der Schwarze Kölner, this is Fort Greens' very own beer garden, with nearly forty beers available by the bottle or on tap. Classic German fare, with German flare - like German soccer matches (and other Euro and World Cup action), and in classic Social Democratic tradition - playgroups during the afternoon for the rather fecund gentrifiers of the neighborhood.

The Stinger

Times Square

Located in the lobby of the InterContinental New York Times Square hotel. From the fevered imagination of Todd English, TheStinger offers up honey laced cocktails and small plates for the after-work and theatre crowd. Intimate setting with fireplace and elegant bar. The sting here is the honey is fresh, sourced from rooftop hives.

Lavo — Nightclub

Like, seriously, OMG! A restaurant AND a nightclub?! That is what you find at Lavo - nightclub downstairs, Italian restaurant upstairs. Both are a blurry facsimile of the Meatpacking district where the well monied young and beautiful who couldn't be bothered with downtown, because downtown couldn't be bothered with them, hang out with their peers, expense accounts and trust funds. The food: solid Italian fare by way of a steakhouse. Booze - great selections, but prepare to open your wallet. The nightclub: More of the same. Lithe women and burly men, euro-trash meets Wall Street, in cacophonous miasma of sweaty moving bodies, swaying to techno beats. Weekend party brunches are a thing. Either to start the party or to keep it going.

Fishbowl

Midtown West

Tucked in the basement of the Dream Hotel is this happy-go-lucky adult playpen. A hotel lounge that does not take it self-seriously, what with skee-ball, video games and giant aquarium. So if you and your pals are looking to kick back and have a little fun well this might just be the place for you.

Manchester Pub

Midtown

An unwise place to wear your Arsenal jersey in this joint, as passion for the beautiful game abounds. Actually wear whatever jersey you like, but bring your love of football and beer, for here be true fans, whose shouts and moans are amplified by the beers they drink

Five Mile Stone

Dude bar, with a frat like feel. Nice balcony though.

Milk & Hops

Is it a bar disguised as a cheese shop? Or a cheese shop disguised as a bar. Either way you can quaff a few delicious pints of craft beer while picking up some fromage, or, you can grab some fromage (and other delectables) after lowering your resistance because you came here for the beer!
